The fast track design build methods were utilized to renovate this project between the University of Louisville basketball
season and the Kentucky State Fair. The arena floor was lowered, mezzanines were added and enclosed, private suites were
added to increase the Arena seating to 20,000. Restrooms and concession stands were renovated and expanded. A basketball
training center, new conference rooms and executive meeting rooms were also provided.
An integral part of the renovation of Freedom Hall was the development of several meeting rooms for the University. The
Hickman Camp, the Presidents Room and the V.I.P. room were all designed to serve as entertainment and meeting rooms for year
round use. The University designated the Hickman Camp Room as a place for University supporters to gather and as a display
space for the trophies and awards of the basketball team. The room is a gathering place for pre-game and halftime during
basketball season.
