In 1988, the United Parcel Service established the National Air Hub in Louisville, Kentucky. Starting with an existing four
building warehouse park located adjacent to Louisville International Airport and UPS’ existing ground operations. The four
150’ wide x 800’ long existing warehouse buildings were renovated and converted to house the new air hub facility.
Buildings one and four were renovated to house ground support operation. Buildings two and three were renovated to house
air package receiving and air package distribution. Between these two buildings a 200’ x 200’ addition was added which
opened the buildings in to one large building. The addition housed employee support and the air package sort systems. A
generator building with four generators capable of powering the entire complex in a power failure was part of this
project.
